Relationship Timer

Celebrate every moment together

What is the Relationship Timer?

The Relationship Timer celebrates the time you've spent together with your partner. Enter your "Together since" date, and the tool displays precise days, hours, minutes – even heartbeats. It's not a productivity tool, but a romantic gift: visualization of shared time, generated love stats, milestone celebrations, and shareable countdowns for anniversaries.

How does the Relationship Timer work?

1. Enter Start Date

Enter the date when your relationship began (first date, official "yes", or wedding day). The timer calculates elapsed time with stunning precision: days, hours, minutes, seconds. Optional: add names for personalized stats ("Sarah & Alex: 2 years, 137 days").

2. Milestones and Celebrations

The tool automatically highlights special milestones: 100 days, 1 year, 1000 days, 5 years, etc. When reaching a milestone, there's a small celebration animation. These moments are perfect for gifts, dates, or simply awareness: "Wow, we've been together this long."

3. Love Statistics

Beyond pure time, the tool shows creative stats: total heartbeats (based on average heart rate × time), estimated shared meals, sunrises and sunsets experienced. These numbers are symbolic and romantic – they make abstract time tangible and emotional.

4. Sharing & Gifts

Generate a shareable link or QR code. Perfect for gifts: print the QR code on a card ("Scan me – see how long we've been together"), or share the live link that stays always up to date. Your partner can save the timer on their phone and watch the time grow.

Practical Use Cases

Anniversary Gift with Personal Touch

For your 1-year anniversary: Create the timer, save a screenshot with all stats (days, heartbeats, sunsets), print it as a poster or card. It's more personal than store-bought gifts and shows: "I thought about our time together." Bonus: QR code on the back – partner can see the live version.

Long-Distance Relationship Connection

In long-distance relationships, time feels abstract. The Relationship Timer makes it concrete: "We've been together for 347 days, 89 of them long-distance – but we're making it work." Both partners can have the same timer on their phones. It's a daily reminder: we're growing together, even when physically apart.

Planning Milestone-Based Dates

Use milestones for spontaneous dates: "Oh, in 5 days it'll be 500 days – let's do something special!" The timer provides structure for relationship celebrations without commercial holidays (Valentine's Day, etc.). 100-day, 1000-day, or "100,000 heartbeats" parties are unique and personal.

Wedding Countdown for Engaged Couples

Engaged couples can use two timers: "Together since" (relationship start) and "Wedding in" (countdown to wedding). The tool shows both perspectives: how long you've been together AND how long until the big day. Perfect for wedding planning phase – the countdown motivates and structures the planning.

Parent-Child Bonding

The timer isn't just for romantic relationships. Parents can use it for "Since my child's birth" timers: "My child has been in the world for 1023 days – we've experienced 1.4 million heartbeats together." It's an emotional way to visualize and appreciate the quickly passing time of childhood.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Are the heartbeat numbers medically accurate?

No, they're symbolic. The tool uses an average resting heart rate (60-80 bpm) × elapsed time. In reality, heartbeats vary due to activity, sleep, stress. The number is a poetic estimate, not a medical measurement. It's about the emotional statement: "Millions of heartbeats together" – not precision.

What happens if I change the start date?

The timer immediately updates all numbers. If you made a mistake with the original date or want to redefine the "official" date (e.g., from first date to official relationship start), simply change it. There's no history – the timer always shows time since the currently set date. Your choice how you define "Together since."

Can I have multiple Relationship Timers simultaneously?

Currently, the tool is designed for one timer. If you want to track multiple relationships or different start dates (e.g., first date vs. official relationship vs. wedding), use multiple browser tabs or different devices. Alternative: take a screenshot of current stats, then change the date for a second timer. There's no multi-timer management like the Countdown Board.

Is my relationship data stored anywhere?

No. All data (date, names, stats) remain exclusively local in your browser. There's no server transmission, no cloud storage. When you share a link, the data is URL-encoded in the link itself – not on a server. 100% private. Only you and people you share the link with can see the data.

How accurate are the "sunsets together" numbers?

It's a simple calculation: number of days = number of sunsets. In reality, you haven't experienced every sunset together (unless you've lived 24/7 together since day 1). The number is symbolic and optimistic – it represents potential sunsets, not actual ones. It's poetic language, not accurate statistics.

Does the tool work for non-romantic relationships?

Absolutely! Use it for friendships ("Best friends since..."), parent-child relationships ("My child has been alive since..."), or even pets ("My dog has been with me since..."). The tool works for any form of "Since when are we connected?" The language is neutral enough for all relationship types – only the interpretation is romantic, if you want it to be.

What happens after a milestone – are there notifications?

The tool shows milestones in the UI when the page is open. There are no push notifications or emails – that would be tracking, which we don't do. If you want to be reminded of milestones, set a calendar reminder (e.g., "1-year anniversary in 1 week") manually. The tool is passive and privacy-first, not proactive.

Can I have the timer as a widget on my phone homescreen?

The tool is a web app, not a native widget. You can create a shortcut to the browser link on your homescreen (iOS: "Add to Home Screen", Android: "Add shortcut"). It then opens in the browser. For a real widget, you'd need to install a native app – but that contradicts our privacy-first, web-only approach.
